Work included development of a flood management plan of a 45 km. reach of the Waterton-St. Mary Headworks system, from the St. Mary Reservoir to Milk River Ridge (MRR) Reservoir.
Alberta Infrastructure and Transportation
Review, assessment and confirmation of hydrology, flood modelling and routing of canal and reservoir systems, hydraulic modelling of canals (using HEC-RAS) and reservoirs from St. Mary to MRR Reservoir, identification of system limitations and upgrade options. Flood management plans and operating rules for current system conditions and future upgraded conditions were developed and includes identification of timing scenarios for diversion flows from the St. Mary Reservoir, operation considerations of canal wasteways, the two hydro plants along the system, as well as the on-line Jensen Reservoir and MRR reservoir.
